Inspiring Instagram mums who exercise... and make us want to!

Our social media feeds are awash with photos of women who manage to maintain an incredible fitness routine while also navigating the trials and tribulations of motherhood.

And we'll be totally honest, the ab snaps and bicep shots often leave us feeling more inadequate than inspired.

Some Instagram mums have, however, managed to strike a balance, and while acknowledging that it's not always easy to stay motivated, they try to encourage other mums by leading by example.

And here are just some of our favourites.

1. "There's been some huge ups and some massive downs! But one of the main ups for me has been getting fit and healthy"

Don't ever forget why you started I look back and find it hard to believe the first pic was me 9months pregnant with twins! The second pic is me currently in the last few weeks!! I gained nearly 5stone during pregnancy , gave birth to two healthy babies but had a traumatic birth resulting in nearly having to have a blood transfusion! I spent 5days in hospital having fits and panic attacks & thought I was going to die!!! The last two and a half years have been a challenge! There's been some huge ups and some massive downs! But one of the main ups for me has been getting fit and healthy , becoming a sponsored athlete for @rg_clothing & realizing that life is there to be lived! If you want to get into shape again after having babies it is possible!! My children are my world! My inspiration, I work out with them on days I can't get to the gym & they love it! They make me proud everyday! I love letting them see how important fitness is in life! I can't promise your journey will be easy but it will be worth it!

2. "There are still struggles, but the love, sweat, and tears put into this climb are so incredibly worth it."

What a journey motherhood has been. When my oldest was born 9 years ago, I thought I was ready for parenthood, but little did I know that I was about to take on the hardest job I ever had, one that I would love more than anything before, but would also challenge me everyday. From learning to run on little sleep and realizing I needed coffee to survive, to watching him grow into a toddler and literally run circles around me as I wondered what happened to my baby, to having a second baby just 19 months later and realizing I was in a bit over my head. Then having a third baby and finally finding my groove, to having a fourth and struggling all over again with the new addition of homework in the mix while nursing, breaking up fights, and keeping some sort of order in my house! And now I watch in awe as my oldest requests to make pancakes from scratch and even make me coffee — all completely by himself! If someone had told me this just a few years ago, I wouldn’t have believed it! The journey is far from over, and although when I first got my oldest to sleep through the night I thought that meant I had this parenting thing figured out, I now know there are many more mountains to climb, like getting through the crazy 6 o'clock hour every night with 4 boys bouncing off the walls! But, it’s important to stop and pause to take in the progress and realize how far we have come. For those of you in the trenches of sleepless nights, bed training, tantrums, potty training, and juggling kiddos, know that so many things truly do get easier. There are still struggles, but the love, sweat, and tears put into this climb are so incredibly worth it.
