Mum's Life

We are in LOVE with this year's Toy Show Christmas stamps

We’re constantly running in and out of the post office during the festive period. We rush around sending Christmas cards to our family down in the countryside and giant care-packages over to our relatives in Canada.

We try our best to send giant packets of Tayto crisps to the nephew living in Australia. We post handwritten Christmas cards to our great-grandad in Donegal. We send selection boxes to our best friend’s children ahead of their Christmas movie night.

Our letters, cards and parcels will be donning quite the fancy stamps this Christmas. An Post, with the help of Ryan Tubridy, revealed the new 2018 Christmas Stamp collection featuring Ireland’s favourite festive traditions.

Featuring in the stamp series for the very first time are Christmas favourites including watching The Late Late Toy Show, eeating traditional Christmas Dinner and attending Midnight Mass, all of which were voted for by the people of Ireland.

Earlier this year, An Post invited everyone to have their say on the modern Irish Christmas moments they would most like to see on the new 2018 Christmas Stamp collection. From thousands of entries, a shortlist of the top suggestions was created and put to an online vote. The six most popular themes chosen to feature on the 2018 Christmas stamps include:

A family watching The Late Late Toy Show
People making their way to Midnight Mass
Meeting loved ones at the airport
A visit to the local crib
A child getting ready for Santa’s arrival on Christmas Eve
A Christmas dinner with turkey, sprouts and all the trimmings

The stamps were designed by Detail Design Studio and the mixed booklets include additional 50c Star of Bethlehem stamps for making up the €1.50 postage for cards going abroad.

Available in a €19 booklet (one free stamp) and a €5  booklet, the new An Post Christmas stamps are available now from all post offices, online at www.anpost.com/Christmas and selected retailers.
