Mum delivers ultimate burn to man who says she shouldn't have a job

Susan Keogh, a mum and newsreader for Today FM, has delivered the ultimate burn to a man who told her she shouldn’t have a child and a job.

The ‘troll’ responded to Susan’s tweets about missing four-year old daughter Faith when she was in work by suggesting that if she misses her daughter so much she should give up her job.

And we gotta say we tip our hats to the classy way Susan shut down the close-minded comment.

“I work for many reasons,” she says in the image she tweeted as a response (see below). “I like my job. It’s really important to me. Not saving lives important, I get that, but it’s important to me. I enjoy it. It makes me happy and content. And as a result a better mom.”

She then went on to talk about the disparity between how people perceive working mums as opposed to working dads.

“I work Monday to Friday,” she says. “That’s five days where my child goes to pre-school and crèche. The icing on the cake – I miss bed time most nights. Do you know how many people point that out to me? Too many. My husband leaves the house at five every morning. He misses ‘wake up time’ every day. Guess how many people point it out to him? You got it. None!”

But we especially love the bit where after a cool and articulately countered argument she finishes the piece with: “And when I addressed you earlier as ‘Brave Man’ what I actually meant to say was ‘Tosser’.

We think that Susan has done a great thing. By publishing her feelings, no doubt many mums who feel the same don't feel quite so alone, and hopefully those who don't understand why a mum would want to work will change their ill-informed views.

SHARE if you think Susan's response is as amazing as we do!
