8 reasons being a mum to twins ROCKS

Many mums-to-be feel a twinge of fear at the thought of having twins. “TWINS?” they shriek. “How in the name of God would I manage twins? And those huge prams that take over the whole footpath? How would I navigate one of those yokes? And the cost? And the nappies? No, I couldn’t!”

But then when those two little bundles of yumminess come along all that goes out the window (well, okay maybe we still can’t work that pram) and the only thing we think is that we were given double the blessing.

Here’s why being a mum to twins ROCKS:

1. Two-for-one deal

Being pregnant only once and getting two babies out of it? We’re no mathematicians but that’s a pretty good deal as far as we’re concerned. That’s half the stretchmarks, half the morning sickness, half the stitches for crying out loud.

2. Half the sleepless nights

And talking of crying out loud, with twins we get to go through all those sleepless nights in one go.

3. Watching them grow together

Watching twins grow together is a wonderful, magical thing. From gurgling together in a secret language as babies, to developing their distinctive personalities, every day with them is an adventure.

4. Double the milestones

How amazing to be able to experience first teeth, first steps and first words twice. Spoilt rotten we are.

5. No tough name decisions

Those two girl’s names we couldn’t decide over? The gorgeous name we picked if it was going to be a boy and the equally gorgeous one if it was going to be a girl? Woohoo, we can use them both! Yep, it’s the little things in life that make us happy.

6. Knowing they’ll always be best friends forever

When we give birth to twins what we’ve really done is created a pair of BFFs (ask a teen if you don’t know that particular abbreviation) who will share everything: their milestones, their growth experiences and their toys – well hopefully! As any twins will tell you they share an amazing bond that lasts a lifetime.

7. They’re ridiculously entertaining

Twins are a two-man (or woman!) show. Their antics – often spurred on by the other – have us in stitches.

8. You get lots of attention

Wherever we take our gorgeous pair we can be guaranteed we’ll get heaps of attention – because twins are, and always will be a novelty. Plus other mums who’ve never had a multiple birth will look at us like we’re Wonder Woman, which, let’s be honest, feels pretty darn good.

Are you the lucky mum to a pair of twins? What is your favourite things about being a twin mum? We’d LOVE to hear from you!
